The tradition-rich Katharinenmarkt (St Catherine's market) dates back to medieval market rights and is dedicated to Saint Catherine of Alexandria, the patron saint of farmers and winegrowers, in thanks for the gathered harvest. Around the centre of Steinbach, numerous market stalls offer goods and food; local businesses and clubs take part as well. The market is held each year on the Wednesday before the first Sunday of Advent.
