Overview
This is a static website with no user accounts, no comment function and no advertising tracking. No cookies are set. Personal data is processed only to the extent described here.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you open a page, your browser transmits technically necessary data to the server, including your IP address; without it the page could not be delivered. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in secure and stable operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Data may be transferred to the USA in the process; this relies on the safeguards provided by GitHub – the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework – the details of which are set out in GitHub's privacy statement at docs.github.com. I have no access to these server logs; how long GitHub keeps them is determined by GitHub.
Analytics with GoatCounter
Reach is measured with GoatCounter – without cookies and without cross-device recognition. Recorded are the page requested, the referring page, browser and operating system, the approximate screen size and the country derived from the IP address. The IP address and the full browser identification are not stored; they are held in memory for at most eight hours so that repeated page views within one visit are not counted twice. Evaluation happens in aggregate form; as neither the IP address nor the full browser identification is retained, attribution to individual people is not provided for. The data is held on servers of Hetzner Online GmbH in Finland and Germany. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in a data-minimising analysis of usage (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Location detection
The home pages offer a "Use my location" button. Only when you click it does your browser ask for permission to access your location. The coordinates are processed exclusively in your browser in order to determine the nearest town. They are not transmitted to the server, not passed on to third parties and not stored. The legal basis is your consent, given by clicking and granting access in the browser (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can withdraw it at any time in your browser settings for this site; the function will then no longer run.
External links
The event pages link to organisers' websites. Once you follow such a link, the privacy terms of that provider apply; I have no influence over their data processing.
Contact by email
If you write to me, I process your email address and the content of your message solely in order to answer your enquiry. The legal basis is the legitimate interest in handling it (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the enquiry relates to a contract. I delete the message once the matter is settled and no retention obligations apply. On its way to me your message is processed by my email provider (Apple/iCloud).
Your rights
You have the right of access to the data processed about you, as well as to rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and data portability. Please use the address given above. You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
Right to object
Where I process data on the basis of a legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) – this covers running the site, the analytics and handling email – you may object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. An informal message to the address given above is sufficient.

This statement describes the current state of the website. It will be updated if functions or services used change.
Advertising links
Some pages contain links to booking sites marked as "Ad". These links are only called up when you click them – no data is sent to the provider beforehand. If you follow such a link, the provider may attribute the visit to me so that a commission can be settled. This does not cost you anything extra.
