Since 2025 Marburg has had no Shrove Monday procession: the Festausschuss Marburger Karneval could no longer finance it under the safety requirements. Instead the celebration takes the form of a stationary parade on Biegenstrasse, closed to traffic, in front of the Erwin-Piscator-Haus. Decorated carnival floats and costumed walking groups line the street, sweets are handed out, and there is a stage with dancing and music plus a separate area for children. The organiser is the Festausschuss Marburger Karneval.
