In the run-up to Christmas, Landshut's old town turns into the Adventsstadt. Its centrepiece is the Christkindlmarkt on the Ringelstecherwiese, with a nostalgic Ferris wheel, an ice rink, a carousel and a gingerbread house; it opens on 19 November at 5pm and stays closed on Totensonntag (the Protestant day of remembrance for the dead). More can be found at the Rathaus, the Bauzunfthaus, the Heiliggeistkirche, the Hl. Kreuzkirche and the ice stadium.
