Fettdonnerstag (Weiberfastnacht, the women's carnival day) ushers in the street carnival in Aachen. Traditionally, the town hall is stormed at 11.11 a.m., with street carnival taking place in the city centre. It is the prelude to the festive carnival days leading up to Ash Wednesday.
