Basler Fasnacht

The Basler Fasnacht is Switzerland's largest carnival and part of UNESCO's intangible cultural heritage. During the three finest days, thousands of drummers, piccolo players and Guggenmusiken parade through the city centre in elaborate costumes and masks. It begins on the Monday after Ash Wednesday at four o'clock in the morning with the Morgestraich and lasts exactly 72 hours, until the Endstreich on Thursday morning.
