The Georgiritt is probably the oldest traditional event in the Ruhpolding valley and dates back to the 16th century, when farmers and horse owners sought a blessing for their animals. More than 100 horses and their owners from Ruhpolding and the surrounding area take part in this old votive ride, above all heavy draught horses and Haflingers. Lovingly decorated festival wagons accompany the procession, and the carved figure of Saint George from the parish church is carried along.
