Rathaussturm der Innstädter Faschingsfreunde

On Unsinniger Donnerstag ('Mad Thursday', the Thursday before Lent), the Innstädter Faschingsfreunde traditionally take control of Passau's town hall. In the grand town hall chamber, the Lord Mayor receives the carnival society and symbolically hands over the key to the town hall, while the Narren present him with the Faschingsorden (carnival medal). The Rathaussturm (storming of the town hall) is accompanied by music and other carnival performers.
