Großer Leipziger Rosensonntagsumzug

Leipzig carnival societies move through the city centre with brightly decorated floats, led by the lioness Leila, handing out confetti and sweets. The procession takes place every year on the Sunday before Shrove Monday; it usually starts at the Bruehl near Hainspitze and runs along Hainstrasse to the market square by the old town hall, where the societies then perform. The organiser is the Foerderkomitee Leipziger Karneval.
