The festival commemorates the composer Richard Strauss, who lived in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for many years. Over several days, chamber and symphony concerts, song recitals and open-air programs are performed at various venues in the town. In 2026, the program concludes with a chamber version of the opera Salome.
