The Berlin International Film Festival is one of the most important film festivals in the world. The competition awards the Golden Bear and the Silver Bears. In 2027 the festival begins on a Wednesday for the first time and closes with two public days on 20 and 21 February. In 2026 it showed 278 films from 80 countries and sold 343,200 tickets. Venues are spread across the whole city.
