Minden's Fasching Karneval & Parade ties the town to the nearby 19th-century Germantown Colony, a settlement founded by German Utopian immigrants. Organized by Minden Main Street, the event includes a downtown parade and free shuttle service to the Germantown Colony Museum, where volunteers in period German dress display historic artifacts. It is held annually on a Saturday in late January.
