Christmastime in Hermann opens with a lantern parade through the German-settled Missouri river town just after Thanksgiving and runs on weekends through New Year's Eve. Downtown shops and wineries take part with holiday markets, decorated storefronts, and a bell-ringing ceremony in the Clock Tower on New Year's Eve. The season complements Hermann's other German heritage festivals, Maifest and Oktoberfest, held earlier in the year.
