Germantown was settled in the 1840s chiefly by German immigrants from Bavaria, Hesse, the Rhineland, Pomerania and Prussia, which gave the town its name. Its annual Oktoberfest is held at Dheinsville Historic Park, an 1840s German pioneer settlement, with classic German dishes, live traditional music, a classic car show and the Dachshund Dash. The 2026 festival runs Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27.
