The Courir de Mardi Gras in Eunice is a traditional Cajun French Mardi Gras run in which costumed riders travel the countryside on horseback and on foot, begging ingredients door to door for a communal gumbo and chasing chickens along the way. The run always takes place on Mardi Gras Day itself and ends with a community dance and gumbo supper. It is one of the best-known survivals of the rural Cajun Mardi Gras tradition in southwest Louisiana's Acadiana region and has no German connection.
