St. Louis Day is Castroville's annual parish feast-day celebration, promoted locally as the 'granddaddy of church picnics', with a Biergarten, performances by the Liederkranz Choir of San Antonio, live music, food and raffles at Koenig Park. Castroville was founded by Alsatian settlers who kept close cultural and linguistic ties to German-speaking Alsace, and the festival's Biergarten and choir give it an explicit German flavor.
