The Unox Nieuwjaarsduik is the best-known New Year's dip in the Netherlands, held on the beach at Scheveningen. Thousands of participants plunge together into the cold North Sea water and afterwards receive the traditional pea soup (snert) and the orange Unox hat. The spectacle draws large crowds of spectators on New Year's Day.
