On Prinsjesdag, the King delivers the speech from the throne in The Hague, opening the parliamentary year. The King and Queen travel in the historic glass coach from Paleis Noordeinde to the Koninklijke Schouwburg, accompanied by a military escort. Along the route, including on the Lange Voorhout, many spectators watch the ceremony; in the afternoon the balcony scene follows at Paleis Noordeinde.
