Sinterklaasintocht Alkmaar

Funfair · Alkmaar, Centrum · 14 November 2026

At the Sinterklaasintocht (arrival of Sinterklaas), Sinterklaas arrives by boat across the water into Alkmaar town center and then proceeds through the city with his Pieten. Pepernoten (small spiced biscuits) are handed out along the route, and for children the arrival is the highlight of the run-up to Christmas. The event traditionally marks the start of the Sinterklaas season.
