Avondkaasmarkt Alkmaar

During the summer months of July and August, an Avondkaasmarkt (evening cheese market) is held on the Waagplein every Tuesday evening in addition to the Friday market. It follows the same format as the traditional Kaasmarkt (cheese market): the Kaasdragers carry the cheeses on barrows while weighing takes place inside the Waag building. The evening markets are smaller than the Friday markets and are complemented by a relaxed arts and crafts market; admission is free.
