The Leeds West Indian Carnival is a Caribbean carnival held every August bank holiday in the Chapeltown area, centred on Potternewton Park. Founded in 1967, it is one of Europe's oldest carnivals of its kind, featuring a costumed parade, sound systems, live music and Caribbean food. It draws large crowds to north-east Leeds.
