TypeCulture festival
A winter solstice celebration created by the arts charity Same Sky, held on the longest night of the year. Thousands take part in a lantern procession of handmade paper-and-willow sculptures that winds through the city centre to Brighton beach, where the lanterns are burned on a bonfire followed by fireworks. First held in 1993, it has become one of the city's best-loved seasonal traditions.
