The Urknall opens the Luzerner Fasnacht at 5 am. On the lake basin, Bruder Fritschi and his Fritschi family aboard the Nauen barge herald the start of Fasnacht and are escorted by a large procession of musicians and revellers to the Kapellplatz. With the Fötzeliregen (a shower of paper confetti) on the Kapellplatz, the Guuggenmusigen across the whole city begin to play.
