The Berner Fasnacht opens at the Käfigturm with the Bärenbefreiung (the freeing of the bear) and the subsequent Ychüblete. On Fasnacht Saturday, local and visiting Guggenmusiken along with costume groups parade from the Nydeggbrücke through the Gerechtigkeitsgasse, Kramgasse and Marktgasse to the Bundesplatz. It is one of the largest Fasnacht celebrations in Switzerland.
