Vogel Gryff

The Vogel Gryff is the highest day of honour and celebration in Kleinbasel and is upheld by the three honorary societies zur Hären, zum Greifen and zum Rebhaus. The day begins with the Wild Maa travelling down the Rhine on a raft; afterwards the three heraldic figures Vogel Gryff, Wild Maa and Leu perform their traditional dances on the Mittlere Brücke and at other spots in Kleinbasel. Accompanied by drummers, banner-bearers and the four Ueli, who collect donations for those in need, the day draws to a close with the Gryffemähli banquet.
