Laternenausstellung

On the night before Fasnacht Tuesday, the Cliquen (carnival groups) bring their artistically painted lanterns to the Münsterplatz, where a large temporary open-air art exhibition takes shape from around 7 pm. More than 200 lanterns can be seen until Wednesday morning, showing the Cliquen's themes with satirical verses in Basel dialect. The exhibition is especially appealing on the parade-free Tuesday, by day as well as by night.
