The official Basler Rheinschwimmen takes thousands of participants down the Rhine in late summer. It traditionally starts with a cannon shot at the Schaffhauserrheinweg near Stachelrain, while the finish is at the Leuengasse close to the Johanniterbrücke. Organised by the SLRG Basel section, a large safety operation ensures the orderly running of this popular public event.
