The charitable Adventmarkt am Alten Markt in Salzburg's old town has been run on a voluntary basis by numerous social organisations and aid groups for more than 25 years. The stalls offer homemade goods, crafts and food in aid of charitable causes. The market is regarded as a particularly atmospheric meeting place in the heart of the old town.
